Patient Experiences
Eyesight
My husband and my three children are all affected with an eye disease called Best Vitelliform Macular Degeneration. This disease is a chronic, degenerative and rare eye condition. It is also hereditary and incurable. It is quite similar to the macular degeneration primarily found in the elderly which results in blindness.
Two years ago, in the summer of 2008, my middle child (then 10 years old) was diagnosed by a retina specialist and his vision at that time was 20/80. The doctor told us that all we could do is come in periodically for check ups, but had no treatment available for him. Dylan had bad headaches whenever he tried to focus on reading. He started learning brail. After 5 weeks of acupuncture with Nina, he then tested at 20/40! We couldn.t believe the results! With no known cure, we didn.t know if acupuncture would work or even improve his sight. And it did! He started reading again and his grades improved - his teachers were amazed at his progress. Dylan even appeared on PBS for a documentary with Nina about the results of acupuncture.
One year later, my oldest son and young daughter were also diagnosed with the same disease. We had just moved back to Utah from Hawaii and we were so grateful that Nina had also moved back to Utah! We started treatments with her immediately for all of my children and my husband. My oldest son's, Tyler's, vision was 20/60 and is now 20/40 after Nina's treatments. Haley, my daughter, was diagnosed in the early stages, and we are hoping the treatments will keep it from progressing. Our current eye doctor (June of 2010) has been completely amazed at the results.
I call Nina my living angel! I would recommend her acupuncture treatments to anyone. The treatments have been easy for my family and we plan on continuing acupuncture with Nina. My family looks forward to our visits with her and she is one of the biggest blessings that we could have ever been given. Thank you Nina!
Sincerely,
Kristy Rountree
Asthma
I have dealt with asthma for over 20 years, although at first the symptoms were relatively mild. In the last ten years or so, I have worked with my primary care physician and asthma specialist, and I am now under the care of a pulmonologist. During this time, I have been given many different medications to treat my symptoms. I get very little help from inhalers. My most recent regimen has been two medications to be administered through a nebulizer, twice a day, and a pill once a day.
I started acupuncture treatments in December of 2009. In February 2010, I noticed that my peak flow had increased about 30 points from around 250 to around 280! Immediately after acupuncture treatments, my breathing is much easier, although it does tighten up again over time. I do feel that my symptoms are lessening gradually. I have cut back on my nebulizer treatments to once a day most days.
Overall, I feel that the acupuncture treatments that I receive from Nina have been quite helpful. I am very pleased with the continual improvement in my breathing capacity.
Rheumatoid Arthritis
My name is Betty. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and it is not just in one joint or one area of my body but in all joints. I was diagnosed 17 years ago and have been on most everything they make for this disease. I have had reactions to all of the medications I have tried and most of the side effects of these drugs are as bad and in most cases worse than the disease. Reactions that I have had include such things as rashes, diarrhea, decrease of vision, possible liver damage, lost of hair, and my favorite - sores that ooze, leave scars, and take weeks to get rid of. The last medication they asked me to try was going to cost me upwards of $1,600/month with the possibility of getting an infection that may cause death or lymphoma. (I don't know about you buy I can find quicker and cheaper ways to kill myself!) It has been hard for me to drive, walk, stand, write, sleep and any of the day-to-day activities we tend to take for granted. Well, I considered the options and decide to return to the only thing that ever helped without all of the side effects. I tried acupuncture 10 years ago and had a wonderful outcome, but was unable to continue as I should have and I have regretted it since the day I stopped. A friend referred me to Nina when I mentioned that I was trying to find an acupuncturist in Utah County.
I have been going to Nina twice a week for a little more than a month and have already noticed big difference. I have more energy, the swelling has been reduced, and I can actually sleep at night, without the aid of pain and sleep medications. The damage to my joints may not be reparable after all these years according to my Rheumatologist but I believe that with time away from the awful medications and with Nina's help this too will improve.
Nina is a very warm and caring person and it is a wonderful calming experience. If you never had acupuncture do not be afraid, it does not hurt. I promise you that you will love it! There is nothing better than the natural approach to healing.
Common Cold
I love acupuncture. I feel comforable and warm and afterward I feel relaxed and I have a feeling that I am going to get better. Sometimes I even fall asleep.
